Shift Notes_
Shift Intelligence System
View ProjectProblem
Shifts move fast, but the information doesn't. Managers piece together what happened from memory, scattered notes, and quick conversations. By the time they understand the situation, they're already reacting instead of leading.
Approach
Focus on the shift, not the system. Instead of building another dashboard, we stripped it down to what managers actually do: log what happened, review it, and move forward. Shift Notes_ captures a few key signals per shift and turns them into a clear, structured read of the day.
Solution
Shift Notes_ is a simple shift log that produces a clean daily briefing. Managers log each shift (breakfast, lunch, dinner) using a few inputs: sales, staffing, service, notes. The system returns a single daily report, broken into Front of House, Back of House, and Focus. No dashboards. No charts. Just a clear read on what happened and what to fix next.
Key Ideas
- 01Shifts are the unit of truth - Decisions happen at the shift level, not in daily reports
- 02Capture, don't calculate - Record what happened. Let the operator define what good looks like
- 03Clarity over data - A short, structured summary is more useful than a full dashboard
- 04Tighten the loop - Log, Review, Adjust - within the same day
